Hi, We’re Drew and Douglas.
Hi! We’re Drew Schrader and Douglas Tsoi. We started the Appreciation Effect during the pandemic, out of interest in people’s health and well-being. Feeling appreciated, connected, and loved is essential to human’s sense of well-being, because we’re interdependent creatures. Our goal is to have one million people feel appreciated and seen for their gifts.
Appreciation creates meaning, joy, and connection for everyone involved, both senders and receivers. If you want to talk about appreciation with us, drop us a line! If you want to help us hit one million people feeling seen and appreciated, drop us a line!
Drew Schrader
lives at the intersection of learning, flow, and technology. In his work at Challenge Success, he helps schools, families, and communities redesign the school experience for more engagement and well-being. He is also an avid “no-coder” helping non-profits and small businesses create customized tools and workflows that work as smart as them. In his spare time, he enjoys trail running, functional fitness training and coaching, and spending time with his amazing wife and kiddo!
Douglas Tsoi
has many projects. He founded Portland Underground Grad School, a school for people who want to keep learning and growing throughout their daily lives and School of Financial Freedom, which helps people learn to take control of their finances to live the life they want. A former lawyer, Quaker schoolteacher, and entrepreneur, Douglas is a Franciscan spiritual director. Douglas’ mission is to help people participate in grace. Appreciation is a grace manifesting through our loved ones, connecting us in a web of meaning, joy, and connection.
You can find more about Douglas on the popular Substack newsletter, Meaning and Meaning, where he writes about the intersection of personal finance and spirituality.
